Currently Reading and an Update

First, an update:

So, I’ve thought a lot about this, and I’ve decided that I’m going to start including my other reviews on this blog. So far, all of the reviews posted have been in the Young Adult genre, and contrary to popular belief, I do read books that do not fall under that category. In the past, I have omitted these reviews because I was trying to focus this blog on YA. But I’ve decided that I want to start including other genres as well…..to, you know, make it interesting for you guys. Don’t worry though, a lot of my books will continue to be YA since I have a reading list that’s a mile long, and I have a soft spot for YA, but expect some random books thrown in there as well….like the book I’m reading now!

And without further ado, I present my currently reading book: This is Between Us by Kevin Sampsell. I actually picked this up, ironically, at Powell’s Books on my trip out to Portland, OR this week, where conveniently Sampsell actually works and resides. I’m not sure what drew me to this book. I literally picked this book off of a shelf of thousands of other books. So I’m not really sure why I was so drawn to it, but as soon as I saw this cover:

I knew I had to read it. I just started it today, but I’m already halfway through! I’ll post my first non-YA book review soon! 🙂

Currently Reading: Defy (Defy #1) by Sara B. Larson

Guess what guys?! I’m super excited that I got an ARC of Defy by Sara B. Larson courtesy of Scholastic!

It sounds super awesome, the reviews have been nothing short of amazing, and I get to read it before it’s released in January 2014!

The cover is really cool and it reminds me a lot of the Graceling (by Kristin Cashore) cover. Here it is:

Review to come soon!!

Taking a Break…

I’m testing out that little thing called self control. I’ve been hitting the pedal to the metal pretty dang hard on the Covenant series, so even though I have Apollyon (Covenant #4) I need to take a breather from my paranormal/fantasy binge I’ve been going on.

So in an attempt to read a book I might actually be able to use in Trivial Pursuit/Trivia at the Bar, slash also because I love Kate Middleton, I’m reading Kate: The Future Queen by Katie Nicholl

And she looks GORGEOUS on the cover:

Not sure if I’ll be posting my review of it on here, but after I finish this I’ll be reading Apollyon, so check back soon!

Halo (Halo #1) by Alexandra Adornetto

I TIRED. I really really tried.

I cannot finish this book.

I read exactly one chapter of this book and now…..

It was painful to read that first chapter and honestly if the first chapter doesn’t make me want to finish a book I’m not finishing it. If there isn’t action in the first chapter you damn well better make me love your characters. And Beth?

I’m already sick of her stupidness and I still had 400-something pages left. Just no.

I think since I’ve read so many good books lately I can’t justify spending time on a bad/mediocre one.  So… ON TO THE NEXT ONE.

Currently Reading: Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy #1) by Wendy Higgins

I’ve been doing a lot of traveling so I’ve been able to catch up on a lot of reading. So right now I’m reading the first book in The Sweet Trilogy: Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins.

This is the cover:

I can’t decide if I like the cover or not…
I do, but then I don’t at the same time.
Conflicting feelings…

But OMG, that male model on the cover:

Anyway I’m about 1/4 of the way through the book so a review will come soon!
