Hush Hush (Hush Hush, #1)

Despite the uncanny similarities to Twilight, I actually enjoyed this book. Even though plot-wise its a pretty typical para-romance novel, I have grown to love the characters (and their humor). There were moments where I would laugh out loud, and there were points where I had no idea what was going to happen. It was a super fast read (I finished it in a night) and I’m already looking to go get the next book in the series!

Daughters of Fortune

Originally, I picked this book up for a bit of light summer reading. However, parts of this book did not make me feel light and happy (what summer reading should do). Here’s what you need to know:

1. Despite the cover this is not a “Gossip Girl” type book.
2. Somewhat surprising and interesting plot but if you think about it, you could probably guess it.
3. There are a ton of characters.
4. The characters are all interesting and unique.
5. There are some dark parts.
6. You definitely want to get to the end of the book to figure out what happens.

Overall: I bought this book at a major book sale. Not sure I would have picked it up otherwise, but it surprised me. Just read it and decide for yourself.

Passion (Fallen, #3)

Probably my least favorite book in the series so far. (But still good!)

With this book being what it is. I hope the fourth book can redeem itself.

Why it’s not as good:
1. No plot.
2. Each chapter is exactly the same except its in a different time period of Luce and Daniel’s relationship
3. There are hardly any moments where something to affect the long-term story line actually happens. (AKA you could just read the last chapter and get the gist of the whole book)
4. The big soul-searching revelations about why Luce is with Daniel aren’t big at all.
5. The whole “this changes everything moment” at the end of the book could potentially make the first 3 novels obsolete.

That being said…..I’m still hoping things turn out okay in the end, and I’ll definitely be reading the next book. I just hope *fingers crossed* that the fourth book ties everything together and doesn’t make me regret not stopping when things were good at the first book.

Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me

Not my first Chelsea Handler book and after reading it, definitely not my last. Chelsea Handler bugged her friends and family to contribute their stories of instances where they were tortured by Chelsea herself.

The more I read Chelsea Handler’s books, the more I wish we were best friends. She is hilarious, sarcastic and very entertaining. Although she is not the author of this book it still has a very quick pace and is impossible to put down. A great book for some summer reading!
